SWBA Leadership:

The SWBA Leadership is composed of a Board of Directors with a maximum of 11 members, and has divided the work of the association into 5 committees. Three committees manage the operations and integrity of the association. The remaining committees are dedicated to addressing legislative issues and managing membership engagement and interactions. Within this members-only section of our site, you can track committee work, access members-only resources and content, and engage with the leadership. Molly Broder | Broders Pasta Bar, Broders Cucina Italiana and Terzo

Molly and her family have grown a set of successful neighborhood institutions throughout the years. Living and working in the Southwest community, she is engaged with local residents and fellow business owners. Molly joined the Board of Directors to help create positive improvements in the business environment in Southwest Minneapolis.

Caleb Garn | Five Watt Coffee and Big Watt Beverages

Caleb is a Partner and Co-Founder of Five Watt Coffee and Big Watt Beverage Co. He is a serial entrepreneur, starting his first business at age 12 with a shoe shine shop in the men's locker room of his home town golf course. He has a music performance degree in Bass guitar and has a self-proclaimed doctorate in customers. He is proud to serve as a board member for the SWBA and supports all forms of positive business, which he proclaims is the engine of our community and country.

An East Harriet Farmstead resident, Matt saw a need to bring local businesses together to build a stronger identity for the Southwest area a decade ago, and set about founding the Nicollet-East Harriet Business Association. What started in a concentrated area along Nicollet Avenue has grown over the last 10 years into an organization servicing a much broader territory with assistance in marketing and regulation. 

Jodi Sandberg | A Little Bird on Grand

Living life on her own terms, and a passion for the finer things in life drove Jodi to open A Little Bird on Grand. She loves connecting with fellow business owners and residents. Jodi loved the work the association performs and chose to join the board to contribute her creative thinking to our strategies.

Joe Warner | Warners Stellian

Growing up in the family business, Joe is a veteran of the retail market, but is new to the Southwest Minneapolis area. He brings experience serving on other business organization boards, and brings knowledge and skills in relationship building to the board of directors. He is looking forward to getting to know more about our organization and his fellow members in the near future.

Rick Bohnen | Penn Minnoco and Penn BP
Vice President

Rick is a second generation owner of the station at 60th & Penn. Growing up in a small business environment, he has many years experience with the joys and challenges of running a business. He passionately supports home grown and owned business and brings a no-nonsense attitude to our planning and strategy.

Zander Lund | Signarama

A Minneapolis native, Zander moved away from the area for a spell. Returning to his roots, he knew he wanted to be his own boss and opened up the Signarama at Diamond Lake Road and Nicollet Ave. With a keen sense of marketing and identifying needs, he brings energy and fresh ideas to the board and membership committee.

Anita Motolinia | Anita Motolinia Mediation

A calm and thoughtful mind led Anita into her mediation practice based here in Southwest Minneapolis. Her desire to connect with the surrounding business community led to her engagement with the Southwest Business Association. She brings us together and helps us navigate difficult discussions with her mediation expertise.

Terry Thomson | Guse Green Grocer

With a background in Corporate America, Terry comes to the SWBA Board of Directors with concerns over the current trends in legislation. Her background lends a great analytical mind, and her experience in running a small local independent shop brings her an understanding of what many of our fellow members are experiencing in today's economy and political climate.

A long time resident of the Southwest area, Roger brings a passion for our community and an incredible analytical mind. Serving with the organization since its earliest days, he is passionate about common sense approaches to government and assisting our local businesses with grant opportunities.
